Vintage Comic Tutorial by onyxrayne Vintage Comic Tutorial by onyxrayne
:iconwastelander7: requested this tutorial from me. I had a lot of fun with this one!

Still taking tutorial requests! I have the pieces for my Realistic Hair Tutorial, I just have to put it together. I will also be working on one detailing how to alter the GIMP logo.

Thanks a lot man, I'm quite new at Gimp, so I'm trying a bit of everything at the moment. I liked Your tutorial. I love it to achieve a good result with freeware. My attempt is here [link] ...

BTW, another place you can get free fonts without strings attached is the Open Font Library [link] Open source fonts with creative commons font licensing.

I've checked them out. They are ok, but DaFont has more artistic fonts.

AWESOME (and VERY funny) tutorial! Not only informative, but, fun too! :D

Love the interaction of the cat with the tutorial! :D Especially the ending! LOL

You not only helped me, but, you gave me a big smile too. Thank you very much! :D:D:D

Lol. Thanks! People are usually more likely to remember a lesson if they found it entertaining as well, so I try to make it at least somewhat funny.

I'm currently working on a new tuto about how to get a Final Fantasy inspired siggy. :D

Ooooh yeah, that is soooo true. I'm teaching myself 3D and some of the tuts make would be really good...if I had insomnia!

Fun is definitely more remember-able than dull. Good thinking!

Rock on!:headbang:

Onsomnia sucks. Trust me... I'm a clinical insomniac. I've tried EVERYTHING. I was so desperate for sleep once that I took 4 Unisom... Just made me feel like I had smoked a lot of weed... (Not promoting drug use... Use to have a problem with them. Been clean for 5 years.)

Wow! I thought I had a problem with it. You have my sincerest sympathy. Being exhausted and unable to sleep absolutely sucks rivers of sewage! :(

Glad you were able to get clean though. :D

Great tutorial, I love the technique! Thanks very much for that...once you changed the colours, she reminded me of old Batman comics.
Nice to see another Gimp tutorial artist out there, the Gimp needs more credit. :D

Thanks! That's the look I was going for!

Gimp does indeed need more credit. There is SO much you can do with it! I just took the pics for a future tutorial on how to make a signature that looks like he Final Fantasy logo (which I'm about to post).

I'll have to go check out your tutos later. Got housework to do.

Ah, always working on tutorials! A girl after my own heart! I'm no good at learning effects on the Gimp, just inking/colouring etc. Thanks for all the helpful tutorials! :D

Lol. Np!

Thing is, I see tutorials for just about anything when dealing with PhotoShop. I've read so many people say that Gimp is NOWHERE near as good as PS, partially because it's free. Thing is, Gimp is damn near IDENTICAL to PS. I have 2 tutorials that were based entirely on PS tutorials(this being one of them, the other will be uploaded later) Some of the features are just named differently.

I try to make my tutorials easy to understand. I could easily go with all the technical crap, but it would be confusing.

I agree...Photoshop has some edges, but The Gimp is not useless. I started my vicious campaign when I overheard someone say "I have a tablet and no Photoshop. Now my tablet's usless!"
Unless you're an industry professional, why can't you use the Gimp?
I no longer feel so alone. D:

Hell, I'd use GIMP even if I WAS an industry professional.

I'm trying to get in touch with GIMP's programmers to see if I can publish this guide book I'm working on.

That's amazing, good luck to you! :D

I'd love to as well (I do for small jobs) but most companies require you to use Photoshop, sadly. :( I've been stuck with it on larger jobs before.
